This project was a competition entry for a short film called "Clowning Around". The poster placed second and received some positive feedback from the judges. Although the initial brief came with a large collection of cast images I chose to go with a more abstract illustration that explored one of the films main themes (alcoholism). Find more info about the contest and the film at the Clowning Around website
Harks back to classic film posters by Saul Bass; nice use of metaphor – you immediately ‘get’ what this film’s about – but it retains an air of mystery that makes you want to know more.
- Matthew Leyland from ‘Total Film’ Magazine

Simple graphical approach that captures the eye, while explaining the film’s concept.

CCS Estates are a new business hailing from the north of Scotland specialising in Rapeseed based products.
Having studied other oil companies in the UK (especially those stocked in supermarkets) It was obvious that CCS Estates needed a eyecatching identity that stood out from the other brands in the UK market that were focusing on luxury. The company wanted to build on the fact that they were operating in the Scottish Highlands, using some of the finest ingredients in the UK. Straight away I looking for fun and striking ways to build a brand around the companies proud national identity. By using the Scotsman illustration to "sell" the products CCS have something eye catching and unique that puts the spotlight on their scottish roots.
The illustration can be used with equal success either in colour or as a line drawing.

This project began with the illustration of David Villa (above) and grew to include many teams and players.
The final outcome was to create a simple yet eye-catching commemorative poster showing the path from the group stages all the way to the final. By colour coding the winning team and using the players as icons above each result it is easy to find your favourite teams results.

You can view the full sized image here.

For this brief I had to choose two films (one modern and one classic) to make a print project about. I chose Trainspotting for my modern film and 2001: A Space Odyssey for my classic. After choosing my two films I needed to choose two pieces of script and make it into a print outcome. I chose to make two posters using the type to create iconic imagery from the films.

I decided to make a business "card" with a difference for my final Degree Show and subsequent trip to D&AD New Blood.
I decided to put my details on a pencil rather than the traditional piece of card because I wanted to give the end user something useful that they could use again and again. A pencil is also more likely to have several users/owners over its lifespan, so by doing this I hope to reach more people.
The pencils themselves were made of recycled plastic cups. I had 500 printed and distributed all but a handful of these over the course of my Degree Show and trip to London.

This project was for the RGU architecture department.
The book showcased the work of architecture students from first year through to sixth year, as well as a few articles by lecturers. The book was stitch bound and used a high quality glossy paper for the students work and a lower quality paper for the written articles at the front and back.

This was a marketing project for a hotel called "Eden House". The premise behind the posters is to explain why the hotel has a strict ecological policy through the use of interesting facts. Each poster highlights a different policy that Eden House have as part of a "green" business. The posters are intended both for marketing outside the hotel as well as helping to educateguests within the premises.
